SCADA, monitoring and data logging

When a batch goes wrong, the first question is what happened. SCADA and data logging answer it. We build monitoring screens that show the whole process, alarm lists with time stamps, and records that link each batch to its settings.

What our SCADA work covers

For larger systems we use Siemens WinCC Professional with S7-1200 PLCs, with an SQL database for reports and OEE dashboards where needed. For single machines the HMI itself can log data, store recipes and produce test reports. Our engineers' experience also includes environmental monitoring (EMS) for sterile production areas, and BMS and EMS recommissioning in pharmaceutical plants.

  • SCADA with WinCC Professional

Process overview screens, equipment control, recipe selection and alarm handling, as in our tablet coating and concrete batching projects.

  • Alarms and events

Time-stamped alarm lists and history, so faults can be traced and repeated problems found.

  • User access

Operator log-in and user levels, so only authorized staff change recipes and settings.

  • Data logging and traceability

Process values and batch data recorded on the HMI or SCADA, or in an SQL database, for quality records.

  • Automatic reports

Test and batch reports produced by the system, such as the make and break values on our pipe testing machine.

  • Production tracking

Counters, cycle times and machine status for output per shift or batch, with SQL-based reports and OEE dashboards at line level.

When you need SCADA or data logging

  • You cannot see what the line is doing without walking to each machine
  • Your quality team needs batch records
  • Alarms are ignored because nobody understands them
  • Test results are written by hand

What you receive

  • SCADA or HMI project with process screens
  • Alarm list with texts and priorities
  • Recipe and user management
  • Logging and report setup
  • Training for operators and supervisors

Frequently asked questions

Which SCADA software do you use?

Siemens WinCC Professional in our recent SCADA projects. For single machines we often log data on the HMI itself, which avoids an extra PC.

Can SCADA connect machines from different brands?

Usually, yes, through standard protocols such as Modbus TCP or the PLC's own Ethernet connection. We check each machine's controller before we quote.

Is this the same as MES or OEE software?

No. We build SCADA, data logging and reports at machine and line level, including OEE dashboards fed from an SQL database. Plant-wide MES and OEE platforms are outside our scope.

Need to see and record your process?

Tell us which machines to connect and what you need to record. We will propose screens, logging and reports.

What we need to quote

You do not need everything on this list. Send what you have and we will ask for the rest.

  1. What the machine or line does, and what you want to change
  2. Photos of the machine, the existing panel and the nameplates of the motors, drives and PLC
  3. Drawings, an I/O list or the existing program, if you have them
  4. Preferred PLC and HMI brand, or no preference
  5. Supply voltage and frequency at the machine, for example 380 V, 50 Hz
  6. Plant location and target date
  7. Languages needed for the HMI screens and documents
