Challenge
A waste processing system built around an anaerobic reactor had to be brought into continuous operation at a food and beverage plant. Instruments, wiring, control logic and safety functions all needed verification first.
Solution
Our scope was testing and commissioning. We verified the field instruments and electrical connections. Then we tested every I/O signal between the field and the control system, a Siemens S7-200 SMART PLC with an MCGS HMI. We also validated the control logic and operating sequences, and tested the safety interlocks and protection functions.
We then started the system up gradually under real operating conditions, tuned the operating parameters and resolved the commissioning observations.
Scope of work
- Field instrument and wiring verification
- I/O testing between field devices and the control system
- Control logic and sequence validation
- Safety interlock and protection tests
- Gradual start-up and performance checks
- Parameter tuning
- Closure of commissioning observations
Result
The system was handed over ready for continuous operation, with all commissioning observations resolved.
