Challenge
The pasteurizer had to hold the correct temperature and holding time for each product, keep heat distribution uniform, and never discharge product that had not met pasteurization conditions. It also needed cleaning-in-place and simple operation for several products.
Solution
Each product now gets its own temperature and holding time from the PLC, held with proportional control and adjustable pulse settings. The PLC also regulates product flow and runs the feed, master and heating pumps with timed start and stop delays. The system runs on a Wecon LX3V PLC with a Wecon HMI.
Flow-diversion valve (FDV) logic, with adjustable switching points and a safety temperature, prevents under-temperature product from being discharged. The HMI has screens for manual and automatic operation, CIP, settings, recipes and alarms, and the system logs production data for performance analysis.
Scope of work
- Wecon PLC programming
- Wecon HMI with Manual, Automatic, CIP, Settings, Recipes and Alarms screens
- Temperature and holding-time control for each product
- Product-flow regulation
- Flow-diversion valve logic and safety interlocks
- CIP sequence with adjustable timers
- Pump start and stop delays
- Data logging and production tracking
Result
Each product is pasteurized at its set temperature and time, under-processed product is held back automatically, and operators run production and CIP from one HMI. Production data is logged for performance analysis.
